What Exactly Is A Blog Ping?

If you’re new to blogging you may have heard the term, Blog Ping, or maybe even, Blog AND Ping. In a nutshell, a Blog Ping is simply a way that you notify blog directories (like Technorati.com, et al) that you have posted new content to your blog.
Why would you want to do that, you ask?
Well, it’s one of the biggest benefits of using a blogging platform, like WordPress, in the first place. Each post can
be “pinged” and the result is faster indexing of your content and frequently the building of quality one-way backlinks as well.
Just don’t abuse the process by using a Blog Ping more than once for each post as you may get yourself into trouble with the ping directories.
